Thanks to You, We Did It!
Our first Summer KJS Legacy Project Outreach is in the books. With a few extra dollars to spare, we surpassed our goal to raise $5,000 by the end of the summer. Your support means the world to us. Our mission is to provide opportunities for students seeking careers in public service - especially for those with limited financial means. Your support of our Summer Outreach helps us expand our support for academic and work opportunities by increasing the KJS Scholarship and Internship endowments at American University and beginning to build an endowment for the annual KJS Scholarship at Trumbull High School - making it a perpetual scholarship for students pursuing a college degree leading to a career in public service. It will also fund our new summer student/faculty research program which we will launch next summer through the Public Affairs and Policy Lab at AU. This new program will offer students a unique opportunity to work with an AU faculty member over the summer - diving deep into a public policy issue and grappling to find solutions and create a case study that other students, faculty, and policy makers can reference is solving real-world problems.
We think Kevin would be proud of the work we are doing to carry on his legacy by supporting students working to do what he had dedicated his life to do - to make a real and lasting impact and make this world a better place for all. Our slogan is: Seeking that more perfect Union! That is the task our Founding Fathers set out to pursue. It is a never-ending task, but one that defines what the great American Experiment is all about.
