This past April, we celebrated what would have been Kevin Sutherland’s 32nd birthday. On July 4th, we marked the 8th year without his smiling face in our lives. We miss Kevin every day and each day, we rededicate ourselves to carrying on the work he never got to do.

November 28th, 2023 is Giving Tuesday.
“We hope you will consider donating to the KJS Legacy Project as we work to extend Kevin’s legacy by supporting students following in his footsteps - pursuing public service in search of a more perfect Union!”
Over the last eight years, Kevin’s family and friends have endowed a scholarship at American University to support students pursuing a degree in public service. They have endowed a Capitol Hill internship to give students real-world experience in government service. And last year, they came together to create the KJS Legacy Project Foundation to expand on those efforts to provide greater support to even more students. Last May, our foundation created an annual scholarship at Kevin’s high school in Trumbull, Connecticut to support a graduating senior who is planning to pursue a degree in Government, Public Affairs, or Political Science.
Already, we have awarded six scholarships and three internships. This support is changing lives and it is creating a family that is connected with the example that Kevin set before his life was cut too short - a family dedicated to carrying on Kevin’s work of being in public service for the right reasons. Perhaps you knew Kevin - perhaps you were in school with him or perhaps you were one of his co-workers on Capitol Hill or The Lone Star Project or New Blue Interactive. Perhaps you only read about him, but have been inspired by his dedication to moving toward that more perfect Union our Founders mentioned in the Preamble to the Constitution. Or perhaps you simply want to support the next generation of leaders in defending our democracy and helping America truly live up to our ideals.
